How to successfully prepare for
I highly recommend having your hair and makeup professionally done. Even when done in a natural way, it still adds that perfect touch to your photos. A trained professional knows exactly how to give a classic, natural look that shows up flawless on camera. They know the right way to contour your face to look great in every light. They know what color to use to compliment your eye and skin color and they can use false eyelashes to truly make your eyes pop! Plus, you deserve to get pampered before the main event!
• Always make sure that your eyebrows are groomed and looking their best.
• Breakouts and acne are totally normal, so don't worry about that at all! It's very easy for me to do retouching.
• To avoid chapped lips, wear chapstick, lip gloss or lipstick. Be sure to bring this along to your session so you can reapply it throughout your shoot because lips tend to dry easily.
• Nails should be freshly polished or completely bare.
I recommend bringing a mix of outfit types, which will provide you with a variety of images to choose from. Here are some ideas to help get you started:
• Dresses, long and short
• Fitted and flowy tops
• Jeans, leggings and skirts
• Rompers, jumpsuits and overalls
• Sweaters, cardigans and jackets
Always be true to you and your style. Choose outfits that reflect your personality. Please bring several clothing options to your session. It's better to bring too much rather than not enough. We can always decide your final outfits together that day.
PLEASE NOTE: It's very important that you bring the appropriate bras and undergarments for each outfit. Don't forget to bring a strapless bra, if needed. Also, make sure to pay close attention to how the bras look under your outfits– if colors show through the fabric, this cannot be retouched.
Also, don't be afraid to incorporate anything that has special meaning to you in your session. Whether it's a sports jersey, a musical instrument, a car... these items will personalize your images.
Be sure to think about your outfit from head-to-toe. Add accessories and layers to complete the overall look.
Just by adding a hat, jean jacket, chunky necklace or scarf, it can completely change your outfit. While we're shooting, we can also add or take off a layer, which is a quick and effective way to add variety to your images.
Try pairing a sheer cardigan with a summer dress or fun statement earrings with a simple top. In the fall or winter, you can pair a sweater cardigan with a flannel. For more depth in your portraits, experiment with textures, like leather, sequins, cable knit, lace and faux fur.
